Flylady Baby Steps Day 31 – Last Day!

Welcome to Flylady baby steps day 31 for getting your home and life in order. We’ll continue working on previous habits for our morning, afternoon, and before-bed routines.

Today is also the last day of the Flylady’s 31 Baby Steps! I’m so excited! I can’t believe it’s been a little over a month since I started these baby steps.

Today Flylady is congratulating us on getting so far at this point.

At the bottom of the blog post, I have a printable for you to print if you want to continue keeping track of your baby steps.

Just print it out and put the paper inside a plastic sheet protector in your binder. Then use a dry erase marker to check off your to-dos.

What Do We Do Now?

Flylady doesn’t want us to know every single detail of the Flylady system yet. However, she says that when our clutter goes away, we’ll find more time for the weekly home blessing, the zone cleaning, the daily missions, and other things on her website.

What Have I learned?

Today I want to share what I’ve learned so far by doing these baby steps this past month.

The number one thing that you need to know is that these baby steps don’t have to be done perfectly.

You will miss a day or two, but that’s okay.
You will have days where you get half the steps done, and that’s okay. However, whenever you fall off the routines, you’ll have to pick yourself up and start again when you’re ready.

We’re never behind. Even if the voices in our head tell us that we’re failures and have to get these baby steps done perfectly or else, they don’t work.

overwhelmed with clutter

Overwhelmed?

If you’re feeling overwhelmed at any point, go back and work on the steps or habits that you are having a hard time with. Or do what I did and change the Flylady baby steps routines to make them work for you and your family.

For example, Flylady wants us to get started on these baby steps right away, and I don’t. I get some of the steps done in the morning, like getting dressed, but I don’t do all of these steps right after I wake up.

Instead, I changed the order of the steps. I would wake up, get dressed, unload the dishwasher while making my coffee. My kids are usually hungry at this point, so I will start making breakfast.

Then I’ll do a quick breakfast clean-up.

Whenever my kids run off to play is when I get into my cleaning mode. That’s when I try to do all of the morning baby steps as quickly as possible, but if I get distracted, I pause and try to get the rest of the steps done throughout the day.

If I don’t get everything done by the end of the day, I restart the next day.

We Did It!

So congratulations on getting this far. I hope this blog/video motivates you because my blogs/videos might show that I have a clean kitchen, dishless sinks, laundry all folded and put away. But remember that those are little clips throughout my day, and my home isn’t in perfect condition all day long.

I’m learning alongside you to balance our life, homemaking, and have some play later, like the Flylady mentions.

Flylady Baby Steps – Block Schedule

Here’s my Flylady Baby Steps Printable. I changed up the routines into a block schedule.

The most important daily task are done in the morning, afternoon, and evening routine. The tidy home task has its own section because every family is different.

The main goal is to get the tidy home tasks done by bedtime, so if you have a few minutes to spare in the morning, then pick one of the tidy tasks to do.
